I have to tell you about possibly my favorite finds yet. Also the ones I am most excited about fixing up.
This pair of antique chairs.
I had stalked a similar pair on CL but due to a snowstorm wasn't able to get to them before someone else snagged them. I was heart broken. But thankfully, I am a diligent Craigslister and found another pair not long after. This was the picture listed in the ad:
A round back, sleek curvy legs. Everything I wanted! And the pair was $37. Can't beat that.
So I hustled down to the antique store as soon as it opened and snatched them up. The next challenge: fitting them in to my tiny two-door car! My furniture shopping is severely hindered by my lack of transportational space. But I made it work. It was like solving a puzzle!
I've got big plans for these babies and I'll be blogging about it every step of the way. I just couldn't wait any longer to share them. So here are some before pictures:
This picture makes it look better than it really is. |
The foam under there is a hard, crumbly mess. |
I love the nail head detail right here. I'm going to try to recreate that when I reupholster them. |
As you can see the finish is in pretty rough condition. |
The backs of them might be my favorite part. |
Actually, this little plate that says "a decorator chair" is my favorite and I will definitely find a way to put that back on. I love it. |
I'm excited to take these on. It will definitely be the most challenging project I've tackled to date, but I'm confident! I'll be blogging about them periodically as I work on them between classes, work and my internship.
Sincerely,
AshleighPS: Please go check out lovely Lisa's Blog Informal Home. She's been the sweetest blogger, welcoming us to the blogging world and offering constant support!

I love them! Even though I am currently on chair overload, I probably would have fought you for them if I had been around. :D If you need any help with them, give me a holler. I'm happy to help. I've done tufted things before if you're going to do that. It's not a hard process.
What beauties! I share you vision for them. Can't wait to see what you do.

I see you have mad packing skills. There's a lot of work to be done, but they have great bones. I think the price was really good, and I love that plate, too.
Your chairs are awesome! I can't wait to see them when you are done!
