happily settling

Ashleigh and I are finally in the same city! I drove back to Columbus late last night and will be spending the rest of the week unpacking and spending some much needed time with friends. At the moment, I'm sitting outside at a Starbucks, happily enjoying the almost summer weather! (I hope the sunshine is following you too!) In the photography world,  Good asked for entries found on the street of happy sightings.. here are my favorites!

This upcoming weekend is my last in New York for a very long time. I'm eager and ready to get back to all of my friends and family back at home in Michigan and in Columbus, but I will definitely miss sweet little Brooklyn, the rest of my new friends here, and of course my Chelsea.

I've enjoyed getting to share my experience here through the photos I've taken. I hope you've appreciated them too! Things to bookmark if you're ever in Brooklyn is as follows...

Brooklyn Flea, Beacon's Closet, The Greene Grape, A concert at the Music Hall (and walk down the street for a gorgeous view of Manhattan!), Prospect Park, Botanic Garden, The Brooklyn Bridge

Enjoy your weekend!
Sincerely,
Sarah

mood

I mentioned mood a couple of posts ago, but here are some lovely shots I took while there. I didn't buy any fabric that day (hate to have to carry it around!) BUT! you can order online, which I fully plan on doing when I'm safely back home in Columbus!

I have so many ideas with what to do with the fabric already! Stay posted for a sensibly creative computer case, lace covered pillow cover, and an anthropolgie inspired installation/wall hanging.

So it was a little tricky trying to find the place. You walk into this swanky entrance way and then you have to go up a few floors...

You might recognize this name from Project Runway! If you're ever near Times Square, you have to stop by. It's just a few blocks away! I can't wait to start creating with all this beautiful fabric once everything settles down!

Sarah

My one and only little night of fame

(like the new look sincerely's sporting??)

BOMB's 30th Gala was last night. It was such a whirlwind of photos, hairspray, painful heels, yummy food, running around, and overall promoting the magazine. The venue was gorgeous. Have a look!

a design

A friend from the house is writing a book compiled of short stories and poems and asked me to design the cover!

We took a short trip to mood, the fabric store featured on Project Runway, to shoot some photos of fabric related to the theme of her book. (The back cover is my roommate's scarf!)

Maybe you'll see this in a local bookstore near you someday :) ...maybe!

And since we're on the topic, you should pick up a copy of Life of Pi. I can't put it down right now and I'm sure you'd be addicted to it too!

ALSO look at these beautifully stitched covers...so incredible.

Sincerely,
Sarah

new museum shoot

Part of my responsibility at
BOMB Magazine is to go to our events and shoot photos of everyone having a really great time. Last week, we were at an amazing venue, the New Museum, that I wanted to share with all of you! BOMB is partly comprised of interviews of artists by artists, so that night we were showing footage of one of the interview. (Sharon Hayes and Lawrence Weiner!)

First of all, the building itself is pretty breathtaking. The floor we had our viewing was on the top floor also known as the Sky Room.

(not my photo, yet I would love to climb on top of a building to get this shot!)

Here is how small we look from Williamsburg!

And this is how high we are, looking up from the bottom of the Flatiron!

I hope you enjoyed the view! Have a great weekend :)

There is so much intense care and love in each piece. My family is coming to visit this week and so I thought this was appropriate for the time. Absolutely stunning. Wouldn't you agree?

Sarah
